Ham and Cheese Empanadas
Ingredients
400 grams of Cheese cut into cubes
400 grams of Ham cut into cubes
250 milliliters of Milk
200 grams of Butter
4 cups of Flour
1 Egg
1 cup of Warm water
1 pinch of Salt
1 pinch of Pepper
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare the empanadas, start by placing the flour on a work surface and making a well in the center.
Step 2 : Then, add 1 teaspoon of salt, the egg, and the butter.
Step 3 : Gradually add the warm water to knead until a homogeneous dough is obtained that doesn't stick to the fingers.
Step 4 : Let this dough rest in a covered bowl for about 30 minutes.
Step 5 : In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and mix with 3 tablespoons of flour until forming a paste.
Step 6 : Add warm milk and stir until you get a thick cream.
Step 7 : Let this cream cool, then add the cheese and ham.
Step 8 : Add salt and pepper to taste and mix everything, reserving the filling.
Step 9 : Once the dough has rested, roll it out on the work surface with a rolling pin and cut out the empanadas.
Step 10 : Place a little of the filling in the center of each dough circle, moisten the edges, and seal.
Step 11 : Brush with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 15 to 20 minutes.
