This sweet and exquisite variation of the ancient and traditional drink of the Guarani people has become one of the favorites of Paraguayan families.
Homemade Sweet Mate
Ingredients
1 liter of milk
4 tablespoons of sugar (or to taste)
Ground or grated coconut to taste
Thermos and guampa
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare this delicious drink, start by heating the milk in a pot over medium heat, avoiding boiling.
Step 2 : Meanwhile, in another container, place sugar and burn it until it turns into a dark caramel.
Step 3 : Once ready, pour the hot milk over the caramel and cook on low heat without boiling.
Step 4 : Sweeten to taste and then pour the mixture into a thermos to keep it warm.
Step 5 : Finally, place coconut in a guampa and serve with the caramelized milk mixture.
