Learn how to prepare a delicious homemade fugazza with a filling of tomato, cheese, ham, and olives, all wrapped in a soft baked dough. A traditional recipe that will surprise your guests.
Fugazza is a dish originating from Argentina, which we Paraguayans have adopted and adapted to our style, becoming part of our Paraguayan recipes.
It basically consists of a pie crust made with a passalina dough, filled with tomato, cheese, and olives, and topped with another crust of dough.
Homemade Fugazza
Ingredients
½ kilogram of Self-raising flour
15 grams of Yeast
150 grams of
1 cup of Skimmed milk
1 Egg
1 teaspoon of Salt
3 Chopped tomatoes
150 grams of Mozzarella cheese
150 grams of Cooked ham
5 Boiled eggs
10 Pitted olives
Olive oil
1 pinch of Salt
1 pinch of Pepper
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare this delicious fugazza, start by placing the flour in a bowl and forming a volcano.
Step 2 : In the center, add salt, yeast, egg, and margarine, then mix and knead well.
Step 3 : Gradually add the milk until you get a smooth dough.
Step 4 : Let the dough rest covered for 10 minutes.
Step 5 : Stretch the dough and divide it into two parts.
Step 6 : Place one part in a tart pan and add the filling: first the tomatoes, then the cheese and cooked ham, olives, and sliced boiled eggs.
Step 7 : Add a little olive oil and cover with the other part of the dough.
Step 8 : Brush the surface with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes, until the dough is golden.
Step 9 : Remove from the oven and serve.
