Homemade Pumpkin Sweet
Ingredients
1 kilogram of Green pumpkin
750 grams of Sugar
2 Cinnamon sticks
3 Cloves
Water
1 Lemon juice
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare this recipe, start by peeling and cutting the pumpkin into medium-sized pieces or strips, according to your preference.
Step 2 : Then, soak the pieces in a container with water for 6 to 8 hours, changing the water every 2 hours to remove acidity.
Step 3 : In a large pot, place the pumpkin with enough water to cover it and cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes, or until slightly tender.
Step 4 : Next, drain the water and add the sugar, cinnamon, and cloves.
Step 5 : Continue cooking over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the pumpkin caramelizes and absorbs the sugar well, which may take approximately 1 hour.
Step 6 : Finally, add the lemon juice to balance the flavors and continue cooking until the syrup is thick and the pumpkin is fully caramelized.
